the white plastic bits on the photo,are they holding the heat shield on the valvers? or what is it?

look like heatsheild thingies.

And no the 16V use nuts to hold them on lower down but the upper one where your pic shows is held on by the ignition module and the earth lead.

hmm not sure about that chris ,got to see them in the daylight again but a good guess says they are clipped
