Hi,

I went to Halfrauds today, picked up an oil filter and some oil for my clio.

Now their little guide says my 16v should use 15W40 part synthetic and its sump capacity is 6 litres.

Is this oil type correct? Is it ok to use halfords own brand filter and oil? Will it need all 6 litres of oil to fill it or say only 4 or 5?

According to haynes the oil filter is a swine to get to? Is it really that bad?

And while i at it how hard is it to drain the power steering fluid? How can i go about it, i cant find anything about draining the fluid in the haynes.

Thanks Very Happy

It's important that you use a good oil in your engine (i woudn't put halfords in) and the 19 manual says 10W40 or 15W40 semi-synth should go in. I always use 10 cus with 15 i always had rough running 16v engines. The oil filter is an arse but you'll probably manage after some %$@#%@#.

I was thinking that halfords own brand might be a bit dodgy, but my mate assured me its just as good as all the others.

How much have you paid out so far? and how much on the oil? I found it cheaper to have my oil changed by National-Tyres as they had a special offer on = £15 inc. using semi synthetic and I got tescos points Very Happy they have a voucher on the website that you can print out.

I payed £14.99 for the Oil, and £5.79 for the filter. Both Halfords branded. They cant be *that* bad can they? Confused
