hi everyone
i'm new to all this :D
just woundering what the differents is bewteen a 1.8 16v and the willams gear box.

Williams gearbox is a JC5 and although it was only built to handle 13bhp more it's a lot stronger by comparison to the JB3 'boxes you'll find on a Valver.

The JB3's tend to have problems with the differential circlip which is why folk convert to the JC5's on their 1.8 lumps or when tuning the 1.8 for more power.

IS THE END CAP WHITE ON THE WILLIAMS ONE.BECAUSE I'VE HAD 2 IN THE PAST 6 MOUTHS ONE IS DEAD NOW LOL BUT THIS ONE HOLDS A GEAR FOR AGES ,FIRST 2 QUICK THEN IT DOES 115MPH IN 3 SO DOES IT SOUND LIKE A WILLIAMS BOX TO YOU?

just been and looked but cant see a code ,i know the other gear box i had,had a little tag on it.this one as'nt ,thats why i was thinkin it was a williams one,like i say the gear box feels so different in how long it holds a gear.

and yes it really does 115 in 3rd no bull

go to www.imageshack.com up load there then copy all the middle section then 'post reply' button chose img box put what you copied in there take out the .th before the .jpg bit also remove the [img] tags and everything before the 2nd http is how i do it you will see Very Happy

box is the same ont he diesel and petrol as far as fitment go, the ratios and bearings differ on it.

The diesels redline lower so need to do more speed for the same revs, thus you get silly speeds liek a 16V is 22mph per 1krpm in 5th but a diesel can be as high as 40mph per 1krpm in 5th

nope the opposite, longer ratios reduce the torque delivered to the wheels
