a leak? Dodgy cap allowign it to escape.

Squeeze the hoses, if you hear the cap make lots of noise the caps dodgy, get another/clean out the one you have.

well changed the cap on the expassion bottle today, the rubber inside it was slightly kinkd couldnt get it to sit flat...

so far level has not dropped, before changing the cap i noticed a couple of drops of coolant on the box, take it this is coz of the dodgy cap too?

you could have just cleaned the old cap ,its a simple process tbh .
does the pressure build up when hot,you got to feel that by squeezing the water pipe by the radiator

even that new one u put on the tank would be pretty rusty if its been used before ,just pop the blue cap out with a screw driver and clean the springs and plastic bits with a bit of cloth and wd40 mate. trust me it will be as good as new

I'd look closer at the hose's. wrap newspaper round the header tank then check it in the morning, you should have a trail.

right jus bin out to put some oil in the car..when i opened the bonnet the was a slight "hissing" sound coming from the expanssion bottle cap??

Schacks...if it is the w.pump would this cause it to drop revs ever so slightly?

Embarassed w.pump pulley..where would this be located?

that hiisng is fine, just make sure your cap is clean and the pressure is building up on the hoses ,squeeze the rad top hose it shall be solid when hot.

water pump is located on the left hand side of the engine the pulley thats after the 2 pulleys on top of each other(alternator and ps pump)

cap shouldn't hiss, if mit is then either theres to much pressure or more liekly you have a leak.

Its the smooth pulley, the rest are grooved.
