Does the 2.0 williams head fit onto a stock 19 16v lump???

If so whats involved??

I've heard of people doing it but I am unsure if it was just rumor.

If not then does the williams engine use a differant box to the valver?

stupid question time.

Does that turn it into a 2.0 then?

is there anything else that has to be changed?

no, that makes it a 1.8 with a willy head which has 32.7mm inlets.

The bottom end is what dictates the capacity.

So what head gasket do you have to use? the Willy or the valver?

can you use the valver manafolds or do you need the willy ones?

the williams head is exactly the same as the 1.8 except it has larger inlet valves liek I said.

if you want a 2 litre buy a williams engine.

if you just want the head get the head and stick the 1.8 manifolds etc on it. Job jobbed.

so what sort of power increase would i get from having a willy head?

Does a willy engine fit the stock box or is it worth investing in a 2.0 megan box?

power increase from just the willy head would be on a par with an oil change and a good service. Maybe a decat.

16v box (JB3) will fit the williams engine but as we all know, theyre not the best so if you can get a williams/megane box (JC5), you'll be better off and can cane it with a lot less trepidation.

"In theory" it would make the same power as a williams....if you could get it to rev high enough.

you'd see a noticeable gain

So a complete willy engine is obviously the way to go. But once you have changed the engine box and ECU how much other work is there??

Once again another stupid question but are the drive shafts for the Clio williams and the Megan 2.0 the same as the valver?
or would you just use the valver's shafts?

I remember Chris saying the valver had a slightly longer shaft than normal.

Gains fromt eh head would be about 5 or so bhp, maybe more maybe less, if you re-timed the cams to a decent setting then it would be a good bit more with a nuice wedge of midrange

Just use the 16V shafts, the clios etc are shorter.

Problem is williams engines are never sold cheap, you get muppets payign a grand for it, its really only worth 2/300 at most, you can sometimes pick up smacked willaims for as litte as £400 but you need to be quick.

I wouldn't say so.

Are you really willing to spend a grand for 13bhp?

For a grand you could get the 1.8 to put out more than that.

I see what you mean.

what are the options for uprating the head on the stock 16 valve?

is it worth buying an uprated hill power head or just doing the work myself. and getting it gas flowed, polished and ported.

(yeah, like I know what that means?) lol

Im pretty sure JB paid a lot less than that for his Williams head. Might have more luck getting a 2.0 F7R megane head. Not 100% sure if that will fit, chris H will know.
