Driving home this evening via the little roads I had my mirror clipped by an old man who claimed to be a kerb hugger! I firstly accused him of being my side as I'm sure he was but as there is no markings on the small bridge where it happened theres no chance of proving who was right and as I know it isn't an expensive job (not sure of his mirror but that isn't my concern) and I think he knew he was at fault (his car was a lot newer than mine and my hubby was in front of me and when I told him what had happened he commented on how the guy nearly took him out too) we agreed to leave it at that and didn't exchange details.
Anyhow, whole point of my post is I need to know how easy it is to remove the mirror and possibly electrics and swap them over from another one as I have a spare.
TIA
Bev.

its easy, but fiddly and has potential to break things.

removing the mirror from the car is straight fwd enough when you remove the triangular trim inside the door..then its just a couple of 10mm bolts.

getting the glass out the mirror is tricky. yoiu need to wrap something behind the glass such as a shoelace and try to pull it out, as the glass is attached to a thingy which is just a pressure-clip fit onto the motor mechanism inside the case.

would prolly be easier for you to find a complete mirror assy and just stick that on.

think there are pics in my "p1 hatch" report.

if all fails you can get a replacment glass the same size and stick over the old mirror Cool
