red19rt's 1.8 RT
ph2 16V
ph1 1.4
ph1 16V
the ph2's all look the same whilst a ph1 you can esily tell if its a 16V or not. |

The only thing that the PH1 16v has to differentiate itself over a standard car is the nose - the PH1 16v was fitted with a unique bumper not fitted to any other car in the range. It had double headlamps - as did the Ph2 16v - however the PH1's also took up the indicator housing relocating the inidactor to the front bumper with added to the "mean" look. Also, the sideskirts were not avaiable on any other models on the PH1 while PH2's the TD's had as standard and RT's had as option the sideskirts / spoiler package.
That are just as many differences between a PH1 16v and a Standard Car as there are between a PH2. However colour coded bumper were a popular option on non-16v's PH2's where as most PH1's had black / grey bumpers.
Visual Differences between Standard Car and 16v:
1a.) PH1 Totally Unique front Bumper
1b.) PH2 Colour Coded Bumper Tops and Rubber Inserts
2.) Alloy Wheels
3a.) PH1 Twin Headlamps with indicators relocated to bumper
3b.) PH2 Twin Headlamps
4.) Larger front Brakes and Rear Disc Brakes
5.) Cloth trim unique to 16v models (lets be honnest, the PH1 cloth was ugh!)
6.) Digital Trip Computer (some PH2's didn't)
7.) Bonnet Vent
8.) Paint Options (449 Sports Blue) Unique to the 16v Range
9.) Small under the front bumper splitter
10.) 16v Badge
11.) Ride Height / Suspension Differences
12.) Leather gear gaitor
- Did the PH1 16v's have a red strip in the door cards? I don't think that PH2's had this.
- So theres this and the sideskirts unique to the 16v that the Ph1's had that PH2's didnt have because of the "Sports Package" fitted to TD's and optional to RT's.
- PH1 16v Chamades had reflective strips next to the numberplate that normal Chamades didn't have.
- THe 16v Steering wheel was on the GTSX PH1 Model? It was part of the sports package for non-airbag fitted PH2's I believe.
- Only the 16v PH1 had a leather option? I think later exec's PH2's had leather fitted, probably to get rid of the last interiors.
The PH1's do look more "mean" from the front - its the relocated indicators that do it but the bonnet vent is more subtle - it suits the more rectangular features of the PH1, alloys etc.
Oh my god. I'm a Renault 19 geek. |

ph1 back bumpers totally different, the side skirts are totally different and not available on any other model.
The door cards have the red stripe in the ph1's, they also have a digi clock and trip comp.
leccy window switches in the centre console instead of door handles like on ph2's.
Ph1's have brake cooling ducts.
rear lights on ph1's smoked normal cars aren't.
ph1 no bump strips only grey stripe, bumpers have grey insert.
Ph1's that were gts up all have coour coded bumpers, all of it not just the lower half. |
