Had an offer on the Cordy for £2000 which aint bad considering what i paid for it etc. I was planning on spending about £500 bringing it upto spec, but now I could get something else.

NOT a Renault 19 16v, I will have another but when I'm not doing 500 miles a week. My mind is going VAG, been thinking:

MK2 Golf GT 1800 16v
Corrado 2.0 16v or VR6
Volvo S40/V40 T4

Any other suggestions?

Short of buying another 33k cordy for £3k maybe haggle it down to £2500 I have no idea, love the reliablity of the Cordoba and the power (150bhp) but it needs to stand up to my 500 miles a week abuse and give me decent (32MPG).

Mk2 golf is a good choise but only as reliable as a valver, 8v golf is the better bet too

16v corrado is wank, vr6 better

Volvo is, well, you know... Rolling Eyes

I stuck it up for sale on the Seat website not expecting to get any interest, in all honesty I'll be quite releaved if the lad doesn't buy it!

Just been browsing...

Almera GTi / Primera GT ? Then theres the 200/300SX etc, not really my scene. Mate says MR2 but not really my thing. Seat Toledo Sport caught my eye, lol.

I thought the ABF 16v engines were quite good? The cordys engine is the MK3 Golf GTi 16v lump and had no bother from it - seem them go with 180k+ on them. Thought the MK2 was the same just diffrent bore?

There would have to be an explosion of cheap valvers on autotrader too. £500 for 74k 3dr hatch blue anyone? Grrrrr.

Nissan will be reliable and the primeras are surprisingly good in the twisties, not exactly the kinda car you glance over your shoulder to look at as you walk away

1.8 16v engine is quite different to the 2.0. The engines themselves are very reliable but a mk2 gold is still gonna be heading to 15yrs old!

MR2's are for homos, unless its a mk1 which is for bisexuals

I'd have a 200sx but the seem to be either ultra reliable or keep blowing up, you feelin lucky? Laughing

Why sell the cordy if its everything you need?

golfs are crap, I don;t know why anyone likes them they have never obviously owned/driven anythign else like a nova which is better.

Corrado, better than a golf just about.

Only golf worth anything is the mk4 diesels and with 2.5k you ain't gonna get one. At auction even with starship mileage i.e over 200k and ropey they are still about 3 ish grand.

Of course there different flavours of VW TDI's.

Out of that list the volvo is the only one I would even bother looking at.

I saw a silver Volvo V40 T4 on a T plate with 90k go for £2800 on Autotrader, looked nice. Bit old man though maybe.

I just know I'd end up with another R19 if I sold it.

Vauxhalls - no thanks. Tho you can get Omega MV6 Execs for next to nowt but no.

Aye Chris, wouldn't mind a Golf GT TD but like you say not for my money.

Need to stop thinking about this and get on with some coursework!

Something to think about .

That Volvo V40 T4. Idea Your looking at a reliable car, a car that has the comfort for long distance driving "and" the best one........ When both cars are in standard form , the T4 will hit a 100mph , " FASTER " than a Escort Cosworth Laughing Laughing .

Thats got to be worth thinking about Rolling Eyes .

I think what we did there was give you too much too fast, chill, rest a while, write down all the different cars suggested plus your own choices ofcourse on seperate bits of paper put them in a hat and pick one. Then seriously consider the choice for a day or two looking thru the trader and what not and if you cant find one that floats your boat THEN bollocks to it. Wink Smile

Be diffrent if I was selling it "to get a....." but really I'd just be selling it cos I got offered a good price, plus having problems at work right now so can't really afford to plough some savings into a new car.
