Well it's about done now. Some people like Chris, Ben and Pete have already seen it but I thought I'd post on here to show you where we're at as of yesterday:

>>Pictures Here<<

It's going on the rollers at Northampton Motorsport at the end of the month so we can get a figure before Nick @ Hill Power puts in the cams, larger valves and possibly alters the comp ratio. Again, I'd like to thank Chris for putting up with numerous PM's at stupid times in the morning begging him for help aswell as pointing us in the direction of Mr Tunney who helped out with a lot of issues also. For those of you that don't know the 19 is running a Megane 2.0ltr lump with the DIS management and also supports a Megane dash now which is pretty unique in it's own rights although not to everyone's taste.

Yep, seen her car on RSC, very very nice 19.
I'm 50/50 with the quad lamp conversion but i do appreciate how she wants her 19 to be unique, its one of the reasons why i love my ph1/ph2 19 hybrid hehe.

Love the color and the wheels and with those quad lamps it looks very aggresive, kind of thing you notice when it comes into sight on ur rear view and makes u think, hmmmm that aint no ned in a boyed up corsa, here is something that not only looks mean but prolly has the power to go with it.

I would love to see some pics of the dash conversion, looking to do something similar with my ph1/ph2 hybrid.

Nice car and a lot of work has gone into it and from someone who knows what they are doing, makes a nice change, good work Mick and nice car Leanne Very Happy

Cheers WN!

There's a picture of the dash conversion part completed >>HERE<< although there are a few more on Leanne's site. It wasn't easy either as the Megane has a subtle differences to its interior shape and dimensions no matter how much you convince yourself it's a straight "looking" fit (Been there, seen it and paid the price) but it gives the car a much more modern feel to it inside now and the clockset looks nicer to IMO.

Making it fit was "interesting" and caused a few head aches but the wiring was (for lack of a better word) a complete "fucker" Wink

The only original Renault wiring looms on that car now exist under the bonnet and even they're not 100% original. 3 months down the line, I look back and think "Thank fook it's done now" Laughing Just got to get over to France and pickup the kit for it sometime soon then chuck it in for a full respray and it'll be done.

We're hoping that once the 19 is done and If all goes to plan (meaning if the old guy finally decides to sell) we'll start on the Fuego Turbo we've expressed an interest in! What do you know about them Chris/Chet? Wink

The car looks ace Mick. Great colour, wheels look very nice.

My hat is off to you on the engine and dash conversion, you've done an awesome job on that.

However, I've got to say, I really, really dont like the quad headlights... Embarassed

Where have you located the indicators for the front?

Hi Shaun.

At the minute we've got them in the outside lamps in the form of 5w side repeater bulbs which aren't ideal and that is why i'm trying to find a way to machine the back out of the front fogs to take a standard 21w indactor bulb holder. That should do the job whilst keeping with the original Ph2 bumper. The only other option I see is using a 16v Phase 1 bumper as they had the indicators built in to the bumper and I don't wat to drill either the quad mould or the current bumpers.

I was toying with just painting the front fog bulbs orange and wiring them up directly but as they're 55w each I think that idea would kill the flasher unit as it's only designed to put out 94-96w in total not 162w!!

Cheers Neil,

The quad lights seem to be meeting with a few mixed reactions to be honest but Leanne and myself really liked them and I thought it made the 19 look a little more unique as the only other we'd seen with this setup is Shauns Chammy!

Still it's all gravy at the end of the day!

is there not a law that states a minimum height for the front indicators?
I know there is one that governs the posistion of the front fog lights.

So having them in the fogs may be a MOT failure, i'm not 100% sure on that but may be worth checking out before you do the work.

Again its prolly the same for having them in the headlights as the headlights will be brighter than the indicators so you wont be able to see them at night.

Could you not take a pair of phase 1 side repeaters (as they are not as fat as the ph2) and fit them into the rubber bump strip on the front of the bumper ? you could make a nice neat job of flush fitting them there without too much work ?

The problem with that quad headlamp kit is it looks (no offence) a bodge job, it doesn't look professional like some of the other quad headlamp coversions out there.

You could do something with the PH2 headlamps to make them look more "black" by painting some of the internal surfaces of the lamp with black gloss paint - there some pictures on r19.de or whatever that site is with the massive gallery of R19 16v's on - I'll have a look if I get chance. That would really set it off.

I just don't like those lights Sad

There are a few people that have "Converted" their front fogs to indicators that I know and have had no issues regarding passing an actual MOT so i'm not worrying about it yet and Adie, you don't have to like them Wink As said before, they have met with mixed reactions but we like them and it's deffo made the car more noticable. I don't know why but people just dind't see it as anything other than a Renault 19 before where as now I think it look much more agressive and without the need for adding ridiculous "Jap Style" kits that are just out of character with the cars European backgrounds.

Keep the comments coming though... it's good to hear all feedback.

well, i quite happen to like them lights,

makes the car look more agressive. (beats a bad boy twatty bonnet anywho!)

also the wheels the same colour as car i think is rather fetching!

how ever, talking of wheel/car colour

nothing has yet to take my fancy more then a ph1 in 449 with gold oz super leggarras on, now that, i like.

Sorry, but I don't see the point in getting a car u like then make it totally unrecognisable. Don't get me wrong, it's a sporty looking car, just don't think it looks like an R19 any more Sad

Chris Surprised An Escort.... Please! Shocked

We've had it compared to a Golf and some "yoof" in Leeds asked me if I owned the Black Astra in a petrol station and had a really puzzled look when I told him it was a 19. He said "A 19... when did Vauxhall make that then" Very Happy

Still it's good to see everyone divided over it... I like the look and the fact it's identity isn't obvious. It kinda makes people take a second look whilst they try and figure out what it is. We've never heard so many people talking about a Renault 19 before Cool

If you excuse the viper stripes this is the kinda headlight mod I was reffering to:

http://www.renault19world.de/gallery/treffen//gallery_abschluss02_15.jpg

Would look even better on a black car.

But if you like the quads, stick with them or maybe get some with smaller projector lenses maybe robbed off a VW polo kit or something Smile

See i'm a huge fan of viper stripes but only on some cars mind. Personally I didn't think the 19 looked too bad with them and I see what you're saying about the tinited lamps to but it still doesn't look "modded".

Well, ready to go to the next phase now... Throttle bodies and the parts are slowly starting to come in. MANIFOLD landed today and I had a call from Germany today saying that the bodies themselves had cleared customs and will be with us tomorrow... All excited now!

More pics to come when we actually fit them but i'll no doubt post some pics of the other bits and bobs when they arrive aswell.
