well its where the twat before i owned it, had jacked it up on the sills and crushed them, i saw it, but thought itr was surface rust, i took the skirts off an found one hole underneath the b-post which i can stick my hand in! im not worried about the welding, its the rack thats costly if it needs replacing!

if your binning it then I will have it off ye, drive it up on the scottish meet then get a lift back down.

nah, im keeping it as youve said the joints are replaceable, i love it too much, become really attached to it, iwouldnt be able to separate with it.

getting the rod off can be entertaining. I always managed to do it with a set of stilsons though.

so how does it separate? just a twist off jobbie? ive just paid out for 2 new tyres aswell. so theres no going back on it now, or if i can get hold of a rack easier to get a rack in there instead? ive found a very cheap rack in good cond at the mo.

just unscrews.

its held by a serated washer thing that clicks into lugs on the track rod. It shoudl be renewed when swapping them but I bend th etabs back and a tad loctite like it came from the factory.

No problems.

Very Happy yay, so now the price, how much are they? i need 2 new brake lines as i said before, then its the exhaust leakage, again no probs. The welding is being done tomorrow, i need it all sorted for tuesday. i need the lights done, they appear orange, the brakes and fogs. so i was thinking of painting the bulbs and inner clusters red.u rekon it'll work?

cant you borrow a couple of clusters from somewhere? Even phase 2 ones, doesnt matter. Just to get through the MOT. Then you can sort your lights out properly instead of bodging them up in a hurry, or even just put them back on as is.

just out of interest ,would the ph2 chammy clusters fit the ph1 chammy for sure ???

right well, the holes got welded up today, i did the exhaust at the same time, and i also painted the bulbs red, this is fine, they appear red now so it should pass now.I ordered the track rod and brake pipes at the same time, gotto collect them on monday after college, then on tuesday it should be all fitted up and taken for the mot!

£50 from a good collegue at work, the one who welded the vtec mini subframe up.

did you have brand new sills welded or something ???
how big were the holes in the sills ????

the holes wernt big enough for new sills, so its been patched up, but if it rusts again then im having new sills

the orangeness of a Ph1's rear and brake lights is how i can spot a ph1 at a distance in the dark lol

all 3 of my ph1's have had an orange appearance to the backlights and have passed the MOT

well he wouldnt pass it on mine lol, so i just painted them maroon and it appears nicely red now so they should pass. he wasnt going to let me off any way i tried, so its best to accep defeat and paint them lol.
