stove paint is generally enamelled on. And what isn't doesn't get anywhere near the temperature of an exhaust manifold.
if you simply must coat it get it ceramic coated or something won't be cheap right enough.
As for wrapping it IS good. However its not good on a cast iron manifold that will just crack if wrapped.
Getting the cat hot is good for it, if its running right it won;t damage it. Also good for the lambda as well. It doesn't operate properly until it reaches 600 degrees.
Wrapping the downpipe is fine just not the manifold but be careful of corrosion occurring under tthe wrap.
