Coolant is usually blue although it looks green when in the reservoir. This colour comes from the additive you mention. If it keeps its colour that's a good sign, if it turns brown that means rust!

Add to the water some of this antifreeze which is available from any motoring shop or service station in the quantity described on the label, fill it to the MAX line when the car's on level ground.
