there are parts of the M25 like that, the Mustang had a weird track more akin to a lorry and used to jump in and out of the tramlines, scary first time it happened,
I havent been to France for a while but remember the motorways over there being a hell of a lot better, and they did roadworks at sensible hours too, and gave you plenty of warning,
in fact apart from Paris the road manners were better with all drivers moving over in plenty of time to avoid roadwork queues,
The US was fine, comfy suspension (read soft) coped well withthe masses of concrete and 4 lanes each side was a small highway

Italy was another thing
