At least that's akin to a free market, you can
choose whose refuse collection sevice you want to use.
Here it's the council tax, no choice. Refuse to pay and they'll put you in jail.
Imagine running a business where you can charge what you like for your products/services and your customers are forced to buy them from you or they get thrown in jail. You can increase the price as much and as often as you want, provide less and less and they still have no choice but to pay! Brilliant!
