Decent R19 16v 3dr Ph2 : £1000 ish??

Hi All.

The car’s a Renault 19 16v 3dr Hatch. Ph2. 1994 (L Reg) in red. Cloth seats.

Only 79,000 miles with a Renault service history up to 60,000 and various records thereafter.

The car is totally original throughout. There are no signs of previous accident damage and the car is HPi clear. I have all the original hand books, folder, service book and a file full of receipts and invoices.

The seats are unworn and everything works perfectly…. sunroof, windows, central locking, fuel computer, ABS, power steering, mirrors.

I bought it over a year ago with 74,000m when it had just had a new head gasket, cambelt , HT leads, radiator with top and bottom hoses fitted. All were Renault parts.

Since I’ve owned the car, it’s been worked on (very regularly) by a Subaru Dealer and everything that’s needed replacing has (and there’s been lots). The car has no faults now at all….. the clutch and gearbox are both fine, the brakes are fantastic, the standard suspension is fault free. It doesn’t lose oil, or water and there are no leaks whatsoever. The bonnet is rust free and there is no corrosion in the engine bay.

It’s fitted with the standard Renault remote alarm and immobiliser which works off the original keyfob, but is also fitted with a remote Toad CAT1 alarm and immobiliser. I have the certificate for insurance purposes. It also has a JVC CD player with upgraded speakers and an airbag steering wheel. It also has a stainless steel cat-back exhaust of unknown origin with a 2.5” tail and an induction kit with cold air feed.

The car was bought for the sole purpose of using as a trackday car. I wanted something cheap but fun and this car has surpassed all expectation. It’s run faultlessly for 6 or 7 trackdays and it’s been fabulous. I did want to keep the car and go down either the 172/182/225 transplant route, but the guys on here put me off (with the expense involved), so I’m reluctantly selling up to get something a little quicker. Hopefully that won’t put people off and it has had coolant, oil, oil filter and brake fluid changes after every trackday….. Every 700 miles or so!

I’ve had Brembo grooved front disks with Mintex front pads fitted. The combination has been fantastic and I’ve never experienced fade.

The car drives and handles beautifully and engine temperature and oil pressure are perfect.

It’s MOT’d until February and taxed for another 6 months.

There are a few minor negative points to highlight:
1)The outside temperature read-out on the computer reads 122 degrees all the time. Not sure why.
2)The oil level gauge on the dash doesn’t work. It’s checked every time I drive it and between stints on the track and I’ve never needed to top up. Probably wouldn’t rely on the gauge anyway.
3)The spoiler on the boot could do with a respray. The lacquer is peeling for some reason, so has gone a bit dull.
4)There is a 10p size dent on the nearside front wing. The paint isn’t cracked and I’ve been told it’s double skinned, so I've just left it well alone.
5)The only rust on the car is a tiny 1p size spot on one rear arch. Which again hasn’t bothered me, but if I was keeping the car for any length of time I would get it done. It hasn’t got any worse in the time I’ve owned it though.
6)And finally, someone in the past has attempted to enlarge the exhaust aperture on the rear bumper and has made a dogs dinner of it. Again, if I was keeping, I’d try and look out for a second-hand bumper to replace it or at least neaten it up a bit.

I’m not sure what price to ask to be honest. I’ve spent around £1500 in the last 12 months and obviously won’t recoup that, but it is a far better example than most out there and doesn’t need a single thing doing to it. It should be trouble-free motoring until MOT time, but even then, it sailed through the last one and that was only 1000 miles ago.

I’m hoping to get close to £1000, but I’m happy to listen if this is a bit optimistic. I haven’t found a replacement for it yet, but when I do I’ll be more flexible on the price.

I’ll consider a P/X but it must be something track-friendly, a tad quicker but also in very good condition. Up to around £2.5k.

Well, I hope that hasn’t bored you too much, thanks for reading (and staying awake) and I’ll attempt to get some photos posted. Alternatively, if you are interested send a PM and I’ll email you some.

Thanks.

Not sure if this is gonna work, but here are some pictures.

I'm picking the replacement car up tomorrow, so it's now got to go.

I've got quite a few more pictures, so just pm and I'll send you them.

Anyone interested at around £700?

Cheers.

Yeah I thought so, but for the money, there's really not much else out there that's as good. Was sorry to see it go.
