Renault 19 1.8 16V gearbox (Phase1 R19 16 valve) on eBay, also, Renault, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 06-Jan-08 15:59:37 GMT)

just trying to help out, by saying JB1 is for the ph1 16v blah blah blah, never said it wouldnt fit, got this reply

I've had 3 19 16v's myself never seen a JB1 box on them.
I ve checked with the guys on the renault sports club to confirm and all the Renault Boffins say that "the JB1 box is from the lower powered 5/19/Clio. The 16v should use a JB3 regardless of it being a Phase 1 or 2" They will have slighty shorter ratios on phase 2's to make up for extra weight.

why do i need to know???????

He is right, JB3 was fitted to all the 19 16Vs ph1 and ph2, usually 051 on the ph1 and 053 on the ph2 although a 051 can be used on a ph2 and vice versa and he is also correct that the ratios on the 'ph2' box were different to make up for the extra weight the ph2 gained with extra roof supports, side impact bars in the doors etc.

as for 'why do you need to know' all he is doing is providing you with the correct information after you supplied him with the wrong information lol

JB1 boxes were used in the non-16v R19s I believe

Check your cars for peace of mind
