Project Y engine option 1
Project Y engine option 1
The first planned engine conversion
Published by Chris H
29th October 2006
Introduction

This was I thought the best place to post this stuff.

Project Y was off the road as the clio was being used, the backbox had gone pop and the engine needed the headgasket sorted.

So I decided since it had a C1J engine I might as well convert it to a GTT.

The plan was to convert the existing engine retaining the existing compresion ratio so it would boost quicker and drive better off boost.

So the hunt for parts began, ebay, ahh wonderful ebay provided the parts at bargain prices!

I got a carb, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, boost pipes, GTT fuel pump, GTT radiator hoses and a few other things from the bay. Have to give a huge thanks to Doc for collecting some of the stuff for me.

So with the parts I started to sort them out, firstly by cleaning them.

The carb, note it was missing the idle mixture screw and the choke pivot screw.

after a blast off with the jetwash

Exhaust manifold, no point in cleaning it really.

The inlet manifold, this responded very well to the clean

after the wash

Amazing what water can do isn't it!
