RR: Mission Statement
Retro-Renault is a club founded and run by a few like minded individuals that felt they didn't quite fit in with other clubs and forums on the internet. Many other sites put sound systems and bodykits at the forefront of their interest. We didn't appreciate this. Instead as a core few folks who believe there is no better way to enjoy a vehicle than to maintain it properly, improve it dynamically and interact with like minded sensible enthusiasts, Retro-Renault was created. Initially formed from the lack of a decent resource for the Renault 19 it has grown into so much more. The 19 had its own sites and forums but these fell into net history and were abandoned by the original hosts due to them moving on to other things. This left a select few, yes much like the A-Team without a home. Surviving as soldiers of fortune, loners and outcast on other forums dedicated to other models like the Clio we never really fitted in. So a few of us created this website to unite us. We don't go for 10k sound system installs, we don't got for orange body kits with 2 feet deep bumpers, however we will not turn these folk away. Instead we prefer standard looking cars, perhaps with subtle tweaks, improved engines and braking systems or maybe even totally standard but restored cars. As with many things some of us moved on from our initial car of choice and got other vehicles, however we are different. Some think its a Renault 19 club, that is wrong. We are a car club. If you have moved on to a new Golf or even an old escort you are still welcome here. Many people owned 'retro' cars years ago, and after owning others, have wanted to return to relive the good times with these characterful cars. With this attitude we have managed to gain many members from around the world and we have a knowledge base pretty much unrivalled for many vehicles. |
