1.8 zetec is 130 PS not bhp, around 125bhp. The engine also has a larger capacity and was developed a lot later than the F7P.

Zetecs are not as nice as the renault unit I have to say

Last zetec car I owned as the 105ps orion, theres even a report on it, what a slow bin that was. pulled well from low rpm due to the small tb though.

The 130 with its larger tb and different cams does go a bit better but it won't scare a 16V ren.

the rs2000's pinto 16V headed cam chain I4 engine is crap.

my 130 spec cabriolet was very quick and handled well but yes my renault is a bit better

all manafacturers make some fast and slow engines look at ford america with the v8's and' v6's etc etc, look at the ford gt there is not a standard renault on the planet which has as much respect as the gt and the shelby gt 500 again find a renault as rare and as popular as that,

imo its very childish coming here and knocking ford as they have alot more background in the motoring industry then 90% of other manafucturers and there motorsport industry is 2nd to none

rs1600i
rs500
3 door cos saphire cos
escort cos
rs turbos s1 s2 and fester
RS200
rs 2000
xr4i (not wild but still fast)
st24
st200
st220
st225
focus rs
st 150

the list is endless im not saying ford are better than renault because that will be a no win argument on both parts cause everyone has there own opinions all im sayin is ford have a bigger heritage in motorsport than any othe manafacturer in the world

i love renault still though

ok lol im going now

when did I or anyone else knock ford as a motoring company?

The cars you list I have owned/driven apart fromt her RS200, I know ford very well.

Skoda still have more rally wins than fords.

sorry i should have made myself clearer lol i am talking back in the 80s when ford were at there prime

i will side with renault in the fact that they produce wilder cars nowadays as although the focus st225 is quick imo its not ford as the 5 cylinder engine is volvo where as the megane 225 is a renault engine. the guys at ford nowadays are rather sensible and modern fords dont have the panache of old school fords

i love renaults though lolol
just look at me as an ex ford fan

exactly 90's renaults are shite as are modern days on.

The alpine renaults in the 60's were 1.8 16V's with 200bhp on carbs!

the list bb gave and fuegos etc!
