Hardest job you have done on your renault?

Over the years i have done many jobs to my renaults. Gearboxes, clutches, HG's, cambelts. Yet the hardest job i have ever faced was today, fitting the exhaust downpipe and new seal / gasket to the clio 16v.
I ended up having to compress the two springs in a vice and tie them with string, then i beat the new seal with a hammer to flatten it out, just so i could get a single thread of each nut onto the long studs from the manifold.
There were many failed attempts and i think now may have lost my place in heaven with the language that was coming from my mouth.
Bet theres probably an easier way but its done now.

Anyone had any real nasty jobs on their renaults? (i refuse to believe you all havn't)

there's always a way

downpipe springs, i prefer to get a jack under the downpipe, get one side done up, then get a jack to support the engine so you can rock it around and get the other one in.

The only hard jobs on a renault are those where something has been left for 16 years, like brake disc retaining nuts lol

I had to take the white hatches 16v engine out without a crane....that wasn't much fun. lol

or there was the head gasket that i did on another 16v just to find out the bottom end had just popped.

I did another HG on my bro's megane which was a dream untill i put it back togeather and couldn't find out why it idles like a bag of crap and sounded like it was gona die. (turned out to be a crappy vacume hose but it took a day to find it. lol

(I have more but it would take all night.)

I think the most annoying thing is the rusted manifold bolts though as they always shear off or round into nothing. lol

Clutch cable snapped on mine last night...in rush hour traffic.which was fun...only had to stop the car once though because of a dawdler...gaps big enough for a freight train to pull into but still he wouldn't go! Wanted to get out and slap him one lol, but couldn't because he was about a hundred-and-thirty-twelve years old!

getting the starter motor was the worst for me, i ended up removing the whole engine to replace the starter, still gave me time to do the cambelt and alternator belts before putting the engine back in and jack going through the sump!!!!
never again own a renault with a F7 series engine.
