Had the new 19 up on my old mans lift the other day and found out why the N/S wheel camber was off, buckled sub frame
Went to renault to price up a new one (black ones sub frame is ok, just needs cleaning up) and with trade discount was £295 Asked what they would charge to replace the sub frame and they turned round and said 78 hours labour and they charge £64 an hour, That's just shy of 5 grand Think I'll be doing it myself!! Anyone done this before and any hints, would like to attempt this without pulling the engine out, maybe support it on a jack or something??? Cheers Never got to renault for a big job!!

is this the one off ebay? if it is, it just seems to be a thing about buying off of ebay, most are really abused.
but yeah, Renault dealer are the pits, you think they'd discount for older motors like BMW has

OMG 78 hours labour??? what are they doing the other 70 hours???
I don't think they want your business somehow Subframe is only held to the chassis by 6 bolts. ok there's a bit of other stuff attached to it but once you have the weight of the engine off it (either remove engine or support it by other means) the rest is pretty straightforward. Could either support the engine on blocks of wood or something or better, hang it off a crane for a couple of hours while you whip the subby out |

Well unless the girl on the phone got the wrong end of the stick they defo said 78 to me, believe me I asked that question. So she got a polite 'F' off and told her to tell the supposed EXPERT to give his head a shake!!!
Yes it's the ebay one but to be fair it's in excellent order for the most part, bar the subby and the cv (which i expect has worn due to the excess pressure) and a couple of annoying yet not terminal faults (tacho and leccy mirrors - haven't checked the fuse yet) I still reckon I got a good car. And it DOES have a full service history.

Ummm think I got demoted

we may possibly need a UK only version which allows for work shy mechs in UK dealerships and garages, 78 hours sounds right to me for our local renault dealer, took them 2 days just to service a 6 month old megane (my mates)

Those hours are what can be claimed on warranty and don't take into consideration a rusty bolt or 75!
