Im Furious Help Me Renault Nuts

ok im absoloutly livid with the performance of my 19 16v it just aint got the go it shud have and seems to be topping out at 120mph

if you guys can give some advice id apreciate it this is basicly standerd the only things its had done is a K&N forced cold air feed induction kit and magnex middle and rear exhaust system (de-cat) on order

im on a budget looking around £1-200.00 per month what can i do and what shouldnt i do whats a good investment and whats a waste of the old reddies

if you're only getting 120 out of it and it seems slow then bolting extra bits on is pointless, theres obviously a deeper lying problem

What he said, if you're thinking of spending money on tuning bits to make the car as fast as it should be out of the factory then you're thinking strategy is all wrong wrong wrong!

I dare say a thorough service consisting of fluid and filter changes, new ignition parts - spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm - will make the car a lot livelier.

Check the cam timing!
Mine was a tooth out on the crank even though it was done by a garage near Bidderman.
Before i checked and corrected it my valver was slow to rev,(as if cat was blocked).
Now it spins round to the red line no problem!!

They put the cam belt on wrong? I hope you went back and demanded a full refund!

Not exactly hard to put a cambelt on in the right place.

120 is better than a lot of them, I have driven a few that won't pass 90.

Its probably been ragged to death and about to die.

Anyway do a compresion test and do a dynamic compresion test as well, the injectors are also probably dirty as well.

Anyway get a new fuel filter on it, if the pumps noisy think about a new one of those as well.

Cam timing is a valid point but the comp test should show that up.

pretty easy tbh.

My chammy has a dodgy hg, has had for 15k, any sustained driving over 100mph forces air into the system, it will still hit the limiter in 5th though, not trying to rub it in or anything lol.

No, solve the poor perfomance first then do extras like cams. no point tuning an engine if its had it.

if its any consellation i just got 132 out of a 6 speed nissan xtrail dci 4x4 thing, very bloody quick for such big motor (private test track naturally)

with regards to your r19, i would say 120 is good for such an old n/a car my old one would do a fair bit more but it was a minter, besides top speed is pointless on rd car, bottom end is where its at
