When to call it a day and scrap it
Now don't get me wrong cos she's going fine at the mo but I have pondered at times how much money do you keep putting in to a car before you call it a day.
I've come to the conclusion that if the body and strcture is in good nick and the paintwork is serviceable (usual nicks and scratches for an oldie) then frankly you may as well keep bolting new parts on it as mostly they are cheap - well cheapish. There are the occasional Renault only parts that cost a fortune and piss me off, but most of the mechanical bits are easy to source and not expensive. And anyway any replacement for a half way sensible price is likely to need parts at some point anyway. So I've decided mine is a keeper. The orginal engine is OK, touch rattly at the top end but pulls fine and uses little oil. Gearbox is OK for the minute although I treat it with care as it does have the occasional odd sensation when engaging first. BUT even those can be replaced or overhauled with a bit of effort. So guys, when would you decide to scrap versus keep |

And that is when it really does become madness!
I'm not the biggest fan of 16v turbo conversions as it is and if you're willing to pay that much for it then you must be mad. If you've got that much to spend then fit a proper engine or failing that consider another faster car. You'd be surprised what you can pick up for £3K these days.

All 16v's of both Phases seem to be rare round my way.
Phase 1 19's of any description are rare full-stop. Most common ones I see are non-16v Phase 2's.
