Right anything to really look-out for? Thinking of buying one to replace the 19 which is getting to the point where outgoing costs are getting abit much. A couple have come around locally, one in particular with 62500 on the clock, FSH and all bills from purchase and from the ads it looks in VGC. Planning on having a look at the weekend, listed at £1890 which judging from Doc's when he had that for sale is a fair price.

Its tempting, I dont know what it is about them but I just love the look of it. Plus its yellow, drop it on some black/anthricate wheels = win.
Also performance specs seem to vary wildly around the web, so people who actually own them enlighten me.

the honest truth is it will not be any quicker than a decent ph1 19, however theres so few decent 19's about it will feel a lot quicker.

The noise isn't as nice as the 1.8.

petrol consumption is quite good. The handling deffo ISN'T as good as the 19, the rear is very twitchy and they spin easily.

overall they are good cars though, they do the job and can look rather nice.

Went to look at the above car on friday, overall very clean bodywork. The only bad-ish bit was the wing, 2 tiny bits of rust above the screen (Doc mentions this in his for sale thread, common?) and a small scuff on the front bumper. Interior could have done with a tidy-up but also good, started first time. Not old enough to drive it on the dealers insurance but went out for a spin with stepfather, even as a passenger felt quicker than the 19. Stops straight and true, only thing was a slight sqeak/knock from the rear and O/S/R leccy window didnt work.

Pick it up next saturday with a years MOT, 6 months tax and a service. Expect pictures and a new project report soon after. First mod already planned, fit center caps from clio/19 alloys which ive got sitting in the shed.

there alway feel quicker due to a longer torque curve, how my personaltest proves, that the 19 can have it. just got to keep the 19 revved, and well the 19 wins hand's down on a bend. However you'll find it's not to hard to get the arse out for some fun. however it's not fun when it break'saway from you when you don't want it to. Rear window's not working common also. did you check the sill's/ back lower rear wing, the two we had, rot there.

Sills and lower rear are good as are the arches. First real job is to get a brush on the insides though as thar be some dirt up there thats I want out. As much as I love my 19 it does get tiring having to drive it hard to make decent progress. I know the difference is minimal but it is noticable. Got to work out what to do with the 19 now though. Another big plus is the insurance, £272 for the year compared to the £494 on the 19 got a £65 rebate coming my way for what ive paid so far.
