importing car to ireland

Hello all

Does anyone know how this works? im just wondering what type of costs would be involved, im wanting to get another r19 16v, but havent seen one for sale over here yet!!

ive just moved over and been getting emergency taxed so hopefully when i get that money back i should have about 2k euros spare.

cheers

lynch it will cost 316 to re register the car to irish reg, its very straight forward, once thats done youll be able to just tax it normally, the first time you tax it youll have to go into the local motor tax office any time after that you can just renew it online

no unfortunatelty, the mot means nothing here, come to think of it either does the nct however if you want to have an nct youll have to book it in for the test here which i believe is about 50 or 60 euros, im not certain as ive never had one but im pretty sure its no more than 60,

also i live right here on the harbour so make sure you give us a look at her when you bring her in, the ferry from fishguard takes a considerably shorter time than the pembroke one

they are actually that rare over here, as are ph1's of any kind, its quite depressing really but hopefully youll kill two birds with one stone by bringing in a ph1 16v, looking forward to getting a glimpse

It'll cost 315 if you bring one in before july. After that the VRT is going to be based on emissions. If the 16v is not on their system then they can charge up to 2000 euro for it and you'll need to the pay the same in road tax every year...yes, 2 grand in road tax

All you need to get from the seller is the V5, some might want to send it back to the DVLA which means you'll need to wait for a Certificate of Permanent Export to come in the post from them
