Yes despite the need for currency to be re-evaluated i.e. bring out a £5 coin, instead the Royal Mint have decided to scrap all our money and replace it by some coins designed by a 26 year old 'graphic design' student which look almost like the ones we've been using fine for 40 years except they'll miss off the numbers so you can't see what they are worth.

In fact, and this is clever, wait for it, yes they each have parts of a big logo on them. Like a big patronising jigsaw puzzle for us all to collect and marvel at. A logo featuring symbols of England, Scotland, Ireland and... oh England again. Never mind eh Wales, you are victim of a poor student competition entry gone horribly wrong.

In fact it's so clever that they have missed off any design for the £2 coin so sorry folks that'll have to stay as horribly unfashionable as all the current money we use.

Again, how embarrassing to be British.

cant think why there has to be a "competetion" to design a set of coins, spose saves the BOE paying someone in house to do it

They get to do it on the cheap.

They can't even say it's democratic since no other bugger heard of this competition. Maybe they just sent it round schools or something.

True. But what about the elderly or blind people who are used to the way the coins look and feel and are going to have to get used to a whole new monetary system.

You do have a point there Mals but like Neal i really don't care what it looks like, what worries me is the state of this countries finances and how the government are failing to do anything about it, a good indicator of how badly the pound is doing is the Maxi bodykit, when i ordered it at 1,415 euros that was £1077 in GBP, i paid the deposit but paying the rest on collection, i checked the exchange rate this morning and now 1,415 euros = £1,137 GBP, so my body kit is getting more expensive by the day!

Thats because it made all those little sweet machines with the twisty knob obsolete. Remember them with the glass bowl top, with bubble gum etc I preffered the bigger coins tbh, all coins have got tiny and always fall out my jeans.
