going to tear into it this weekend, see if I can make it behave. Think I'll need to buy more beer though.

That's what the Passat is for. reliable transportation, fuego is not going to be my daily... (considering an Alfa 164 for that)

so it's idling right, found a knob to adjust that :P starts a little hard though, gotta clean that AAV for sure I think. o2 sensor is pooched so I'll be replacing that in a few weeks. (my money is going to registering it first)
idle is a little lumpy though there's still something not quite right... on the dash lights, I discovered the left hand side front and rear lights shut off as well, guessing fuse panel connection is flaky hopefully I'll have time for that today with the AAV cleaning... I found a loose connection to the rear blinker, so that's working now. I still bought extra bulbs though, just in case... also rear interior light works, and I tinkered with the map light, but the switch isn't working well, at some point I'm going to hit the local salvage yards see if I can find another light that's the same size out of some other car (they look about the same size as the rear lights in my passat... that'd be cool if those fit heh)

starts right up now, idles smooth too. AAV is clean, and I replaced the crap ass battery terminals, I didn't realize how stupid they were until I took them off, total rustville in those. I also took some sandpaper to all the grounds and the positive electric terminals, put 'em back together with dielectric grease so they stay good.
what else... oh, dash lights was a dirty fuse, cleaned that up too seems to work now. Think I'll just replace all of 'em at some point. so, what's left is o2 sensor, wireing up some sort of front side marker lights for inspection (I think that's like an MOT) and registration (not all in that order) Also, forget if I mentioned earlier, air conditioning is fully functional as well

yup, looks like someone replaced all the hoses with new barrier hoses and all the connectors have been converted to R-134a type, so I think it's all been converted.
almost forgot, gotta do the reverse light switch too... Ah well, much much shorter list than I had with my GTi which had a blown trans and a long list of issues when I bought it and the new owner is *still* sorting it out(made a profit selling it though, hehe) car the fuego replaced

yup, had loads of VWs, two Saabs, a Mercedes and now the Renault. I really want an Alfa (love the way the V6 sounds) they're a bit expensive and hard to find. Renaults are even harder to find, but this one just popped up and I said why not. (it was listed on a Subaru board a friend of mine is on)
Also had the one Honda, an Element. I've never owned an American car.

All you've gotta do is figure how to get this home then! 1999 ALFA ROMEO 166 SUPER V6 24V SILVER (end time 19-Apr-08 21:23:57 BST)
I was never a 166 fan, because of the shape of the nose, but the rest of this looks gorgeous...
