Not quite so legal test drive....

Took the fuego on a not so legal stroll around the 'hood last night(no plates, not registered) It moves along quite well, I'm definitely too tall for it, brakes feel way light and it's mushy. It'll take some getting use to, quite a bit different than a german car

It's not running right for sure and there are some more electrical gremlins to find.

it's idling high, at warm up it's around 1800, once warmed up it only drops to 1100-1200

I know it's running rich, have to find the cause of that... I think I'll try a new o2 sensor, it looks ok, but the wire does not look ok (besides it's a cheep single wire type)

water in the gas for sure, need to get some heet in there and more gas.

oil pressure gauge is skitzo if the pressure is high it's all bouncing all over the place, once warmed up and sitting at idle it holds steady, but if I rev it it's all over the map again. water temp gauge is fine, and the temp holds nice and steady.

dash lights and radio lights flicker a bit, no pattern to it and it does it with the engine on or off. Also, dash lights just up and die randomly

drivers side tail light shuts off when you press the brake and there are no front side marker lights (something I will have to make happen before I can get it inspected.)

Those nice Cibie 'euro spec' headlights are crap, the reflectors have lost much of their reflective properties I think they work better than US spec, but not as well as they could

there are good points though. I've been all through the engine bay, looks like ALL the vacuum hoses have been replaced some have a date code of JUL 94, alternator says 1998, belts are very new looking, brake fluid is a very light amber(as is the engine oil) coolant is a nice clean green, CV boots look great, battery is less than a year old, the air con has been converted to R134a with new barrier hoses (so it's more than likely it was converted 'correctly') it seems to work too, I'll find out for sure once every thing else is sorted and it's a bit warmer out. Oh and the heat works great too (though the temp slider is tough to move) Oh and I looked everywhere, there is not a single spec of rust on the body...

Learning more than I ever wanted to know about L-Jetronic now, my head hurts! and I've got a pile of stuff to try, first up is replacing and rewiring the o2 and giving the AVV a real good cleaning (reminds me of my VWs, I was always cleaning the ISVs)

a lot of electrical issues may resolve themselves when the cars used moe, it dries them out and they function correctly again.

Dash lights might be the bulbs, the filament may make and break the circuit which is why it works and why they dont.

I already said somehwere about the mixture issue.

tail light will be a badly or wrong bulb, corroded board or faultyearth to that lamp.

so how fast did you get it too then?

I remember your post, that's why the AAV is going to get a good cleaning.

I drove it all of 20MPH, trip comp said I got 2.1MPG for the 0.7 miles I drove it...
