renault 19 prima ???
hi all just advice if anyone can offer any really i have a 1991 phase one renault 19 prima done roughly 110000 miles decent runner apart from carb plays up now and then but generally runs well even after being stood for few weeks needs bit of work on bodywork mainly passenger side wing lacquer come off and rear spoiler my questions really are 1 is this an easy car to learn to drive in and 2 is it worth doing up to first rate again or selling and if selling any ideas what it would be worth i know the 16v are a much more popular choice but its a nice car and been looked after just the weather not very kind to few areas of the bodywork ..
cheers all renaultmom |

Yeah...I suppose it does depend on condition though. They're very rare now.
My first car was a 1.4 19. was a great first car. Travelled all around the country in it. 16v's are expensive to insure if it is your first car Depends on your age but £2k+.

that little 19 is perfect for learning to drive in, basic car with basic functions, nothing to distract a new road user from what is important, the road and awareness of other road users and your surroundings.
Service kits are quite cheap for it too. As to wether its worth keeping, really depends on what condition it is in now and what kind of money you would want to throw away on the car. If the bodywork is only suffering from a bit of lacquer peel and a dodgy spoiler then keep it, if it has the demon rust crawling all over the inner wings and rear wheel arches then that could work out to cost more than the car is worth to sort out. Also check areas around the rear lights and the front panel under the windscreen (where the wipers are) for rust. Also be aware that they can leak from the aerial in the roof, if it does a simple dab of silicon will sort it out. *note* My insurance on my 19 16V hatch was a massive £240 this year for fully comp

lol must be stupid thieves in your area then to try getting the door open that way.
it is quite an easy job to change the door depending how rusted the door pins are, when my old 19 hatch got broken into, i had to also change the door and my door pins refused to budge so i ended up having to chisel the pins out. how they attempted to break into mine ![]() the door pin ![]() door off ![]() new door on

Did that line up vertically with the shell properly without having to 'adjust' it Simon?
very lucky if so.
