WSR Silverstone June 2008 Post Show Chat

A huge thank you to all that turned up this weekend, not only from RR but from RSC as well!
It has to be said that without the guys from RSC this weekend would not have been as good as it was, they really are top people!

Also, was nice to catch up with Jay and Benzo who I last saw at the Southend meet, good to see Huw again whom we last saw at WSR 2007 and was great to meet one of our newest forum members, Paul (psgold) whom came and said hello to me first thing this morning and mentioned his 19 16V was in the public car park, a quick word with Stephen Dell and I got his car into the display area, many thanks to Stephen for allowing Paul's 19 in at such short notice!
It was nice to see Shelly there with her black 19 16V ph2 cabby and meet all her friends as well as chatting to many members of the public who showed interest in our 19s

A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS GOES TO NEAL! as his superb Black R19 16V Phase 1 Hatchback won 2nd place in the best 1990 - 2000 section of the show, very much deserved and I am so happy that He finally got some recognition from Renault H&C for the amount of hard work Neal has put into that car, seeing Neal pick up his prize at the gala night and hearing the magic words, Renault 19 16V in front of all the Renault bigwigs was the highlight of my weekend, WELL DONE NEAL!

In addition, a huge thank you has to go to Barry (bidderman) for being the Taxi driver to get us from the campsite to the gala night and back again in the most stylish taxi i have ever been in, his R19 16V Ph1 Chamade, cheers matey!

Again, a massive thanks to you all for making this a superb weekend!

Yes I'm so glad we took the Megane Coupe now. Shame my ph1 Cabbie could'nt be there (Prove that Ph1 better that Ph2 - Si ). But come cash & time the cabbie be sorted 9 Now or in 10 year's time- i love it that much ). I'm deffo not letting no Bell-end have it. Also BTW his name is Paul - our new show member today. But Yep Awesome Weekend. Deffo felt I was part of something again. Been banned. I have TBH. have lost alot of interest in Car's tbh. But like I've said Very Glad to see you all again. We try to be there for FCS, but in no club car this year. However, the way thing's are, you know me it be in a R19. ( Just need to blag some Overtime )

I'm very happy for Neal getting something this weekend. TBH and most of use know this year ( With was was there - and last year),when it came to a standard 1990-2000 car. Neal's was IMO the best there. But we know how these thing work. Best thing is for Retro. Is that all tho it a R19 club at the mo. YOU ARE GETTING SPOTTED.

Saturday

I drove up on Friday afternoon after work, spotted the RSC crew at the campsite straight away not just because of Ant's black cabby but also Rae's silver one on a huge trailer being towed by her huge truck lol

This is Chunk's coupe, Ant's cabby, Rae's cabby, Marty's megane, Wicked Neo's 19, my 19, Maxi Rally Boy's 5 and more turned up later.

A good evening Friday with plenty of beers and laughs, and we were all up bright and early to start on Saturday. It helps not having to break camp before setting off because we'd be back later.

Straight into the circuit and we were timed it perfectly, just after the Renault Hospitality Shack opened, and before too many cars and people turned up. In fact I think we had the prime spot in the arena. I love this photo, Baz polishing my car while Simon watches and I take a photo Thanks baz.

The gala evening was good as always, it was in a rather posh country golf club. Lets just say this was the view out the window of the reception room

Before the meal they showed some slides from the day, including one of the five R19s together, and this close-up showing Ade's and Si's phase 2 R19 16vs!

Neal went up and got his prize and the loudest cheer of the night. Lots of lovely waitresses all night too.

Sunday

Woke up on Sunday and treated myself with a lie in til 7.30. Then Neal, Lisa and I went off for fuel and food, after what seemed like hours waiting for Neals special breakfast we hit the road and got into the circuit about 10 probably.

No rushing today! A quick wipe with a cloth and we could sit back and wait for the track to open.

Track time! The parade lap was at midday after the F1 car and it was baking hot. We got into formation, another good chance for a photo shoot, note the new and good condition front tyres... they wouldn't last!

Going down the main straight in front of the adoring fans

Whats that chasing me

i was there... i managed to blag my way in with the rtoc, but as i was in my scab i thought it would be rude not to park with the 19's. my front tyres were shot after the laps, did manage some nice lift off oversteer 4 up in between the delorians lol.

big big thanks to whoever let me squeeze into the queue for the parade laps as well, because they were awesome, and made my show

I came today, Sun, But by the time I got there, there were only about 5 19's left. Then the rest of you left while I was out round the tents and stuff, so didn't manage to see any of you . Nice to see some other 19's though.
Did somebody say a TD was there? Thought I had the only Diesel

ps Cheers Jay for the help getting in!
