Petrol Strikes

What a load of rubbish

The Shell fuel delivery drivers are on strike over pay.
You may think, this has something to do with the recent increase in the price of crude oil. Not a bit of it.

In fact,
"Industrial action began when pay talks broke down earlier this week, with the companies saying unions rejected a pay offer taking the drivers' average salary to £41,500 by January 2009."
Source: BBC NEWS | UK | Fuel strike begins to hit supply

So... £41,500 per year is not enough for an average driver? Am I in the wrong job trying to make an honest living when really I should just be pressing pedals and striking occasionally when I get bored?

I've decided what the problem is: petrol has been far too cheap in the past. It has always been the cheapest option and it remains so. Trains and buses just cannot compete. Make fuel a more realistic value and scrap vehicle duty.

I hear that, even worse since the 7 1/2s were limited to 56 as well, double the lorries in the same two lanes trying to fight through middle lane grandads at 50mph

I heard that Shell are gonna be playing porn videos on large screens on their forecourts so that you can watch someone else get shafted while you are getting shafted on the price

Agreed, its annoying seeing the first two lanes of a 3 lane motoray being taken up by two lorry's both limited to the same speed and getting no where.

They deserve a pay rise, no matter how much they get paid. 16 years no pay rise? terrible

I'd have to work 350 hours a week to get £41,000

I think I'm in the wrong trade.
