My Trip To France

Hi Everyone,
I've not been on for a while but I thought I'd just tell you all about what happened to me & my Phase2 16V Charmade while we were visiting it's homeland.
I went with my Girlfiend to the Sarthe Valley where Le Mans is, and we got there ok, and crused the autoroutes at 80Mph no probs. When we arrived though, a couple of French Boy Racers wanted a race in their Saxos. Despite being fully loaded with luggage and I easy left em for dead!
There are loads of 19s and other Renaults of vintage still in daily use over there which I think is good, although I only saw one 16V in two weeks, and the guy drivin it was surprised to see mine I think! I never saw him again though.
Anyway a few days later me and my Girlie went out for our dinner, and when I got back to my car I discovered a French guy with his hand inside the bonnet Vent tryin to pull it off! Now I can't speak french, but I think "What the Fu*k do you think you're doin!?" translates in any language don't you? He ran away and jumped into what may have been a 19 once, but it was too hard to tell underneath all the tack he'd splashed on. He had running lights all down the side like on trucks!
After that not much happened car wise, but we did visit the Le Mans car Museum, which is a great place to go, and I suspect their main sponser is Renault themselves.
It was a good trip, and I thought i'd just tell you about the car stuff. I hope all of ya are ok, Stu.

Yeah There was some excitin times, their country roads are great for a thrash! There was one I went down that was straight for about 4 miles! Then after that there were some nice curves and hills to play with.

In answer to Marky Turbo's question I think its "Peugeot!"

They hide their speed cameras though, not caught luckly.

At least you got to spend some time over in France, I spent 24 hours over there and covered 1200 miles!

I spotted a couple of 19s when I was over there but I spent most of my trip on the autoroutes and about 20 miles of back roads.

I had the use of a 57 Peugeot 207 Urban 1.4 Diesel for a spell while My lovely 16v was havin the spoiler re-painted. I must say it was the worse car I ever drove! It was far too slow, too heavy, did too many things by itself, was ugly and my shower has a bigger turbo. It was so slow that I got overtaken by a granny with a blue rinse in a Micra whilst attempting to enter the M58. Gettin back in the 16v was great, because it made my trousers go on fire!

Diesels are good if done right, and that "Robbin Pikey Cunt" was done so wrong it made children cry.

Theres only one French Car maker and we all know who that is don't we?

Good Answer! But doesn't translate into French I don't think! I was a bit afraid of gettin stopped goin into France, but there was no border control or anythin. We just drove off the boat and straight onto the motorway. At Least on the way back into Britain they checked pass ports. Obviously this checking system doesn't always work!

Tell you what tho, I saw loads of Renault buses, but have never seen one in Britain. I only pick this up because I'm a Coach Driver, and notice these un important things!

It was the same for me, just drove straight off the ferry and into France, no passport check or anything, before i knew it I was on the autoroute.
On the English side before boarding the ferry they did at least check my passport and ticket.

On the way back, on the French side they also checked my passport and ticket and had immigration checking all the lorries and vans (including mine) and luggage compartments on buses once we was parked up by the docks.

No checks upon arrival at the English side, customs shed was open with a few bods there but it seemed to me they was looking for a certain car as everyone in front of me and immediately behind me was just waved straight through.
