Hilton's a very good choice, the local U-Bahn station (Eberplatz) will get you onto all the interesting lines.

You will also be near the Köln Seilbahn, one of the many scary things I've done this week (Kölner Seilbahn).

Also check out the Wuppertal 'Schweberbahn' if you want more scaring. It's a monorail built in 1901 that runs down the middle of a river at 50km/hr. Nobody died til 1999 then they've had 2 accidents since, I survived though.

More tedious facts and photos when I get back next week.

Before:

2 weeks later:

Car ran great for the whole 2 weeks. Treated it to a new battery half way round but other than that no probs

Ended up doing Britain-France-Belgium-Holland-Germany-Switzerland, it was awesome! I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys driving and generally not being in this country.

I make that 2927 miles, not bad at all Tom

I did half that mileage though when I went to the South of France and back again to pick up the maxi kit in 24 hours lol but would love to do that myself, a 2 week driving trip around Europe where I can take in the sights etc instead of driving past them at 90mph heh

You'll need a passport to get on the boat and that's it. Also if you want to go into Switzerland that's passport too.

Also fuel is a little more expensive in france, holland and germany (1.45 euro). Fuel is loads more expensive in Belguim (1.65 euro).

Pics will be as and when, frankly holiday pics bore me stupid lol

Petrol Costs

2927 miles, 350 litres burnt, 510 Euro (Ł405) spent.
Average = 38mpg.

Not too bad really. Most of the distance was on Autobahns, sometimes fast to get places, sometimes slow to keep it cheap. There was also a fair amount of fannying around in Black Forest mountains, and driving round cities and some other stuff.

For example on my way back home, early in the morning with a full tank it was sitting at 45mpg (70-80mph) for a few hours, later in the day it was low 40s which is strange. Maybe there were good and bad batches of petrol.
