finally a dry day
as it didnt bucket down today decided to wash the 19 and general clean up ready for Ace Cafe, one thing led to another and I actually managed to start doing some of the things on my list
1/ squeaky drivers side rear, usually when handbrake is on and you get in and out but sometimes even with handbrake off, was a bit worried this might be serious/costly but following another post from Chris H i found a stone lodged in the rear suspension, been there a while and was the same colour as the suspension (rusty) it was rounded off quite badly so had been rubbing for a while, prised it out, no obvious damage caused and now silence at the back 2/ clean under arch liner, managed the drivers side, one of the clips was missing and a bolt was all that held it there attached to the mudflap, seems the bracket from the body is missing, other four came out, eventually and then i found the seriously rusted and chewed screw at the front of the side skirt- bugger theres always one) was gonna drill it out but managed to force a star head into the rust and got enough grip to turn it a coupl eof times before is slipped, could then get grips on it, and there was the 4 inches of crap in all its glory - pics to follow I reckon we should sell Retro-Renault compost as it was good enough to grow potatoes in little surface rust on the inner arch, had a poke around with a screwdriver. no holes found, reckon when i change the wing i can clean off all the underseal and kurust and then reseal and it should be fine on to the crud - cleared it out, washed the area and made sure the drain hole was clear at the bottom, poured a little water on the top of the body and made sure it was all running out fine -put it all back together easy - job done - well one side anyway Paul
