Rear strut (Neal, help!)

I need a rear suspension strut as mine has come through the mount and up into the boot! Neal, can you help me out with describing that thing we were looking at please mate and what i'll need to fix it?

from the quick look I had at it, you don't need the shock itself and the shell is not corroded.

that big washer thing at the top inside the car with the rubber donut under it... there's another one of those underneath on the outside of the wheel arch. it's that which has rusted through.

the remains of it will be loose underneath. just remove the shock, file off the rusty remains of the disc (bearing in mind that there's meant to be a step on the shaft for the disc to sit on), put a new one on and refit. you only need a new shock if you find that it is infact corroded once you've filed the disc remains away.

the other side probably isn't far behind so get a couple of discs from the scrappy (the upper ones - they are the same as the lower ones but will be in better condition.) failing that, get them from renault, I'm sure they're not that expensive! ill get you the part number in a bit.

hmmm, cant find the washer/disc thingy seperate on dialogies, so scrappy it is.
