Volvo 440 with F7P

Older photos so the wiring isn't that messy now! Will take some more and post them on here if people are interested. Engine is running on MegaSquirt which is controlling both fuel and ignition (notice the standard ignition coil underneath the strut brace)

Sorry to bring Volvo content on here, but its kinda renault related also.

Matt.

Nice, I heard the engines were similar, could you keep the same engine block?

Also how do you set the adjustable strut brace?

Nice, I heard the engines were similar, could you keep the same engine block?

Nope, the F7P head has extra oil ways - the original plan was to bolt the F7P head to the B20F (2 litre renault F3P?) block, but the F3P does not have the extra oil ways. I was tempted to seal the extra ones up by welding a plate across but thought that they were there for a reason and decided to pull out the B20F engine and drop in the F7P.

Also how do you set the adjustable strut brace?

Its not adjustable, myself and my dad made it out of a piece of stainless steel water pipe, bent it with a 50 ton press and welded it up (well at his place of work).

its then got an aircraft bearing on the right hand side so that the brace can pivet upwards.

the join on the right hand side is to aid removal of the brace if the engine needs to come out, originally it was one complete piece but it was getting tedious removing and refitting it all the time when the engine was in its early days of fitment.

Sounds like the problem i had when fitting an f7p head to a 2.0 8v laguna engine.
