My £82er, home safe and sound!

So, off i go down to Croydon again yesterday morning to pick up the Phase 1 i bought on ebay a couple of weeks ago for £82. After getting us lost in true 'bloke' fashion (thinking i could remember the way off the top of my head!) we come round the corner of the road to see it still sitting there. The relief to see it hadnt been towed away/clamped was unbelievable!

Fix the dodgy earth and we stick a set of jump leads on it for 5-10 minutes but it still won't turn over quick enough to start, im thinking knackered starter motor, so we end up pushing it down the road and bump starting it. Being a dick, i let it stall on the 1st attempt so we had to push it all the way back up the hill again!

The drive back was, suprisingly, uneventful (apart from my mate getting a puncture) and the car was pretty much faultless, even though i crapped myself every time it went a little bit under 1000 revs as i knew if it stalled, it wouldnt start again so lots of healing and toeing to make sure that didnt happen. A few things noted though...

The brakes are 'spongey', but so would you be if you hadnt done anything for 8 months!
I think one of the bottom arms is knackered
The PAS belt is loose
The paint is a bit faded, as expected
The petrol flap is missing.

But..

No rust or body damage
The engine sounds great, not tappy in the slightest
The leather is a lot better than my other set
All in all not a bad car

Plus, its an absolute missle! Lots of power right from low revs and pulls like a train all the way to the limiter. I was amazed at how quickly you can punch through the gears and it just keeps accelerating, unlike my phase 2 where if you drop under 4000 revs, you aren't going anywhere quickly! And the noise! Holy shit!

Anyway, pics...

The main source of the lovely noise..

Not bad for £82 i think you'll agree! Think im going to take it for an MOT next week just to see whats what.

Whoop, another H-plater, nice one!

Keep this one and take what you need off the phase 2 to sort it out.

Bendix ABS... there's the culprit for your spongy pedal straight away
