Quite unusual Renault

nah they have far smaller tanks for that

There was one which you could just about get 2 men in, with heads sticking up above. It had a flame thrower (only) as a weapon, which was fed from honestly a trailer full of petrol towed behind it (via a well dodgy pipe system)

Basically meant the poor buggers couldn't reverse (without jacknifing and spilling shed loads of fuel everywhere). I think it was Italian.

Anyway, what were the French doing making tanks?

Did the gun actually fire shells, or just have a little white flag that popped out the end?

Yeah they just built them to hide in!

The Renault tank proved very successful in the more open style of warfare in 1918. The Germans were slow to adopt tanks and their design was not suited to trench warfare.

Also when the yanks joined in they only used British and French tanks as theirs weren't ready in time.
