1st August 2008 to 3rd August 2008 09:00 AM to 09:30 PM
Hi there,
conversing with baz thismorning between us we hatched a plan of having an r.r social/meet in rosslare harbour, ireland.

so far we're scouting to see if theres interest and how many would be interested in attending.

The proposed location is roughly 35 seconds away from where you would disembark from the boat and is set for the august bank holiday weekend (fri/sat/sun night).

Boats leave from both fishguard (4 hr crossing Car+2 £324) and pembroke (5 hr crossing and shit staff Car+2 Adults £212 Return).

There is a wide variety of accomodation available ranging from camping in my garden (assuming i can rent an industrial strimmer before then) to b&b's to hotels with a few stars im sure. Prices for these range from £24 per person sharing per night (B&B) to £225 Per Person sharing for the three nights (Hotel). I have more detailed info but am too lazy to type it right now but obviously if there is interest I can find out everything considering this village is about two square metres in size and i occupy most of that.

So let us know, stick up a reply and lets see how much interest we get. Obviously the more interest there is the more of a squeeze we can put on people to give us a reduction on everything.

Available Hotels:
Best Western Hotel Rosslare (£155 P.P.S for 3 nights)
The Harbour View Hotel (£50 P.P.S Per Night)
Great Southern St. Helens Bay Hotel (£228 P.P.S for 3 nights)
The Ferryport Hotel (£104 P.P.S for 3 nights) BEST VALUE
Quality Hotel Wexford (20 Minute drive, unsure of prices but usually reasonable)

Available B&B's
St Martins (£58 Per Night DBL Room)
Oldcourt (£24 P.P.S Per Night)
Clifford View (€ Nobody was home so i couldnt ask)

Camping Also Available

Boats
Stena Line Fishguard To Rosslare 2 People Plus A Renault Of Your Choice £324 (Return)

Irish Ferries Pembroke To Rosslare 2 People Plus A Renault Of Your Choice £212
(Return)

Norfolk Line Ferries - Liverpool To Dublin (then 2 hour drive to wex), not confirmed the prices but i understand they are much cheaper than the other crowds

I understand these prices are insanely high but if we can have a confirmed number by the end of june we can approach one of the companies in order to get a group discount

the company is norse merchant ferries baz and heres a link to their site Norfolkline Irish Sea Ferry Services sailing from Irish ports Belfast and Dublin and English ports Birkenhead Liverpool and Heysham offer passengers and freight customers a reliable daily ferry service night and day across the Irish Sea, these prices are only cheap on the 10am morning sailing, i priced the 22:00 pm sailings and its in and around 200 sterling, so price it for maybe 10 am friday returning 10am sunday or monday, the crossing time is 7 hours on the button, cabins in the boat are an extra 30 quid, the car deck is visible from the lounge so you can keep a watchfull eye on your pride and joy... also im just heading back to my own place jay so i'll pm you those details soon as i get in

relax - sounds like a decent price to me, there are also b&b's for less than that too but they may be hard to get a room in it being a bank holiday and that...

now on to other business, graham kindly gave me a heads up to the fact that coinciding with the irish rr meet is the motor-fest in nearby waterford, a spin to this from rosslare would be about an hour drive and it may be a good buzz for all of us to cruise up to, its on on both the sat and sunday during the irish meet, their website is http://www.motor-fest.com/. sure let us know if theres any interest in it and we can do a cruise there while youre visiting, many thanks

I reckon we should go, if the weather's decent it'll be a good show. A nice coincidence it's on in the South east the same weekend...

agreed graham, its only a short drive so it should be a bit of a buzz, maybe head up there the sat or sun morning for the day and back to rosslare for the evening, keep the fingers crossed for the weather

Plan (in no particular order): Arrival, relaxation, food, beer, car appreciation, barbecue, cruise to car show in waterford, and any other suggestions are welcome
