dreams can come true

Hi everybody,

I bought my 19 16v hatch 449 blue last feb for £500.

first job we did new clutch, I was planning on getting the k-tec clutch but my dad (god bless him) pursuaded me otherwise. good first job except the indicator won't switch off buy itself.

second job disks and pads all round.

next we did the timing belt that was good fun.

then we did the starter moter.

then the clut cable snapped.

now the clutch ratchet has gone (just read on the tech thread that we should of lubricated the cable)

plus the arches need doing. I will get em done when I get a job.

I cant see myself driving anything else.

In the future sometime I would love to get the engine fully rebuilt fully forged with throttle bodies from k-tec.

does anyone know what kind of power is possible to get out of F7P with the above set up.

I wouldnt like to speculate on the power you could put out with that set up but there are various other engine 'mods' you can undertake to up the power a bit too... any pics of the car? We're pic obsessive here at RR. Welcome along to the forum, I'm sure youll find any info you need on here and never be shy about asking questions in the tech section or just joining in the banter in the general chat forum, again welcome along.

I wouldnt bother with the ITBs on a F7P, go get yourself an F7R with Megane head they have circular inlets for starters rather than oval ones which are a pain to fabricate the ITB manifold (trust me done it once for the F7P, just talked my dad into making new one for F7R).

Power wise, well i've seen mention of the F7R 'Nana Clio pushing out 210bhp on ITBs as 12:1 compression, not sure if it was verified though only forum speak and numbers do sometimes get inflated.

hi and welcome

ref your engine q,s throttle bodies will prob give you upto 30 bhp, wouldnt go forge pistons unless you are tubsin it, the other route is high comp piston which im doin, they are meant to work well with tb,s but im goin the r1 carb route, so will have to wait and see the outcome on this, should be middle of summer but its not in the 19 but im usin a valver clio instead

only thing usin the meggy head is they are dizzyless which means the head needs to be machined to take the dizzy, then apparently the meggy loom is a nightmare to get to work properly as a few peeps on here have found out

Megasquirt it like I did, ditch the Megane management etc... use a 60-2 flywheel on VR sensor and bobs your uncle, drives the coil packs no problemo and you can get rid of that nasty distributor!

I think I could help them with their copywriting! But what they seem to offer is a fair price, it remains to be seen how many enthusiasts are prepared to put that work into the engine
