thanks Peter,
It is not too bad, there are a couple of niggles and a few minor scratches and prangs from before i had it, but yeh on the whole it is a tidy little motor. I just need to sort out the heating issue and the idle and I am soted for a bit!

ah yes the awesome e7j, amazingly reliable and quite nippy too, i did a lot of long drives powered by that lump, no complaints except the sticky thermostat causing hardship, all in all joyous motoring

Thanks everyone I can see a weekend with a set of tools coming up soon after studying the trusty Haynes of course. She is a good little motor the only issues I've had was overheating in winter due to incorrect antifreeze level and exhaust falling off oh and a dead battery so not bad for a car of its age

yeah had to change mine to became a kettle, luckily wasnt the hype of summer ! that idling problem i had untill yesterday when i changed the inlet temp sensor, my symtoms were crappy idling when first started and eratic idling when at operating temp incl. revs staying up near 1500 rpm, might not be your problem but worth a look

Cool thanks guys, I am off to the scrap yard tomorrow to get a blower motor so I will take a look to see if there is a sensor whilst I'm at it, I may get lucky! it has been buggin me for a while now lately it has started to rev up to 2000 rpm when i come off the throttle and start to brake. I really want to get to the bottom of the little niggle, someone suggested a faulty inlet sensor or a faulty lamda sensor, so i may check that too, time weather and rugby at the weeken permitting, although given our frankly shite performance yesterday I may give the rugby a miss and sort the 19 out!

Not wrong with a E7J. TBH IMO the E6J/E7J about the best engine in the 19 range. Good power for it size. and can scare plenty of other car's in it's size class

So there was nothing prior to lags and meganes in the scrappy! What a load of COCK! also I have a big doubt it is going to get through the MOT, there is more rust than metal now I think, bad times.... Oh and a freakin puncture! what a day
