good runner normally upto now had a hole in rear section exhaust and front pipe was advised to change entire system which agreed to. work was carried out no problems car running fine . today first day took it for longer run i hear a knocking sound coming from under car and it keeps trying to cut out but if u put foot to floor on accelerator kicks into life again figuring something to do with exhaust took back to garage after they looked at (appeared to use blow torch on it and hammer ) said ok its sorted . i thought great drove round for nearly an hour no problem no knocking or cutting out but then knocking kicked in few miles along road and the cutting out started but cutting out only seemed to get worse with knock . so was wondering is this an exhaust issue as car was fine before new system was put on any help would be appreciated .. |

go back again, ask them what exactly they did when fitting the original, then ask what they did when you went back as well as why, and ask them to show you

is rarely serious

Not sure it would be an exhaust issue at all, unless it was the lambda sensor incorrectly fitted near the front of the exhaust?

i have been looking into exhaust thats been fitted and front pipe matches the 1.4 which my car is but middle pipe and rear looks like a 1.7 would this cause probs i mentioned in earlier post my old 1.4 exhaust the middle pipe had box right in centre of car which front pipe fitted into , but this one the middle pipe thats been fitted goes off to the side further down the car and the rear pipe doesnt fit exactly where my old pipe used to its slightly off centre to rear bumper sorry dont know much about cars but this seems bit odd .

quick update after further research
i have been looking at car and exhausts for renault 19 mine is the tr version which has middle box and rear on exhaust .
after looking properly at new system they fitted it appears they have put the tse exhaust version which has three boxes not two on it , if this the case surely exhaust has to deal with another box which it didnt have before hand so would this cause my running problems ???? |
