Forum & Renault Newbie here
Hello there, I've been referred to this forum from Mad Pierre over on Renault Sports Club, and was advised that this site had a lot of hopeful tech, so hoping the two sites will really help build up the knowledge, hehe. Anyway, an introduction:
My name's Enrico, a relative newbie to Renaults and the like. Basically me and my flatmates at university have bought a Renault 19 1.8 16V Chamade as a group trackday car project. We had previously bought a 1986 E30 BMW 316 for the same purpose, but well...after all the time of doing nothing to it, it kind of rusted even worse than when we bought it (well for £113 it was good - but when you can poke holes as big as your fist with a screwdriver, something's not right), so we're ripping that apart, and bought the Renault for £200 from the ex-President of our university motorsport society (who is a friend of my flatmate, who is consequently now the new president). Personally I own a 1998 Toyota Cynos Beta (Import Paseo). Anyway, hope you can all help me build up knowledge on the car and help with any problems. Thanks in advance to you all, and I leave you with pictures of the car, and my car as requested, pictures of the R19: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and a couple of my own car: ![]() ![]()

Bendix ABS, just what you need for a good track day crash.

heater panel is the orange numbered ph1 panel, the ph1 is white.
The control stalks are ph1 square ones not ph2 round ones. The coolant cap has the non 16V brown cap, the 16V should have a blue cap which has a higher pressure. Bendix ABS is lovingly known as 'widow maker' as it will randomly stop working and you have no brakes. Best option is to remove it and fit the conventional non ABS system.

what cars can I source that from, or whereabouts can I buy the system?
And as for the strange mixing of Phase 1 and Phase 2 parts, well the car is a genuine, the former owner was very respecatable...all I know on the changes front is that he sourced the leather interior, so perhaps he swapped in the other parts - the steering column cowling does look like its been cracked open to swap the column stalks |
