totally new. Help much appreciated

hello guys. please bear with me, read the whole post and give me some advice

first of all... i'm new here, i'm new to renault; actually... i'm new to cars.

i got my driver's license about 1 year ago but me or my parents never owned a car.

a couple months ago i wanted to buy a Renault 5 GTT, but my mom wouldn't agree, since she wanted a family car, that was somewhat larger than the R5, + the one i wanted was already tuned by a friend of mine.

Then I came across a Renault 19 Chamade for sale, and i would very much like to buy it, since i remember a good friend of mine sometime said it's a very good car. The owner sais it is very well kept and it's traveled 160,000 km so far.

The owner lives in another town, so I would like to know as many things as possible about this car before I go check it out.

* Are there more than one models of Renault 19 Chamade? (if there are, what are these, and what is the best?)
this is it:

* It's made in 1989. was that a "good year" for R19s?
* what problems can it develop? where should I look for problems? how do I know if everything is ok or not?
* how much gas should i expect this baby to "eat"?

Please answer my questions, and also make any other observations you may have, since I really want to buy a car that won't give me headaches.

Thanks in advance guys
