Here we have a broken GPZ. Broken because it doesn't run. I was told its broke and fix it. So I had no idea what was wrong with it.
Its Neils bike and he only recently got it back, he sold it some years ago when it worked and now has it back in poor condition and its broken, so hes slightly annoyed by that.
Anyway he wants it back to its former glory so I'm the man for the job.
I got it round here and I did have pic sont he phoen of it with all the fairing etc on it but the phones lost so the pics start at the stripping phase.
A few things first though, the keys have gone walkies so I had to overcome the locks, which i have done without damage. The locks could be used again but the family he got the bike back off of have the keys and say they don't. We know they do, they know we know they do but we pretend we don't know they do and they pretend they don't know that we know. They would wait until its fixed then come and steal it with the keys so needs a lockset.
I looked in the oil filler and couldn't see the clutch for mayo. Not a good sign, I put some water in the radiator and it came right out the oil filler hole. This means, headgasket, head, or block really.
Since I had removed the locks I could try and crank it over, it cranked, slowly but did crank so thats a good sign.
I then pulled the plugs out, snapped number 4 off though, but thats not an issue really. Spun over fine then and 1 and 4 were spitting mayo out.
Theres also the usual bike issues, bent brackets, damaged fairing, sheared bolts, iffy wiring and blah blah blah
Anyway the stripdown
Fairing away, airbox and battery box removed
other side, note bird evidence, it was just before this pic was taken that happened
Decent looking and sized engine!
A lot of the wiring is iffy
other coil
gauges
exhaust, oil cooler etc removed
