seized

Righty a pal just bought a quad yesterday, its been round another guys garden for ages. Engines seized. Nobody knew why and blah blah, just it was ok then seized and its sat there for ages.

So Robert bought it and it was brought to me to sort.

I was asked what would cause it to seize, well with being a two stroke and aircooled at that I said I bet its over heated. The things seized solid. Theres plenty of oil in the oil tank and it has an automatic oiler which adds oil to the fuel.

Anyway it was brought round tonight and I done a wee bit on it.

This pic is the quad tilted up so I can get a look at it, the black plastic crap is hiding the engine, you can make out the barrels fins and the exhaust on the right of the pic

A pic from further back, look at the size of the gearbox!

I got the plastic cover off and surprise surprise look at the the mud

It has deffo overheated, this would have been avoided had it been washed properly after each use, instead it just overhgeated and seized.

Anyway I need to get it all cleaned down before I can strip it, sadly access is poor so i need to remove allthe fairing etc to get to the engine properly
