paints4u scratch repair kit

Ordered myself one of these for the pricely sum of £12.98 + del as ive got a nasty scratch running down the drivers side that needs sorting. Claims to work on any depth of scratch right down to bare metal. It all arived this morning in a nice little box, heres what you get:

30ml bottle of a colour of you choice, 449 blue in my case
30ml bottle of clear laquer
30ml bottle of scratch cleaner
30ml bottle of G3 compound
5 application spears, small piece of microfiber cloth, neoprene block and some wet/dry.
Im yet to use it but so far im impressed with what ive got, nice and easy to choose your colour. Enter the year of your car, the paint code and system spits out your choices. Will post up pics of before and after at the weekend aslong as the weather holds up.

Weathers nice so made a start today. Theres 4 steps to this and so far its coming along alright. Colour match is good although its abit fiddly even with steady hands. First off you need to clean the area with the scratch cleaner, I used a cotton bud instead of the things they give you. Next was 2/3 layers of paint, with 1/2 hour between passes. Step 3 is lacquer, they say 7/8 layers and until the surface is raised above the scratch itself. Final bit is rub it down and get the G3 on it, not done this yet as you have to wait awhile for the lacquer to go off (2ish days) but the weather is good so might do it tonight.

Before and after shots so far:

its is a rubbing compound for new paint G3 is the first stage then you have G6
G10 and so on after a respray on a car you get that orange peel look you rub down the panel wet with a 1000 grit to get it flat then you go through stages of rubbing compoud with a buffing pad to get that glass finish.

Rubbed it down this morning, has come out alright. Needs a small fill with laquer as I didnt put enough on in places. Not put the g3 on yet so that should hopefully finish it off nicely. Doesnt stand out like a sore thumb anymore and for a first attempt im pleased with the result.

dun dun dun!

You can see it if ure close or the sun is right on it but apart from that its good. The scratch ran from the door mirror along the door under the lock across 3/4 of the rear door. Paint has bubbled abit on the edge of the door but thats my own fault for leaving it so long before sorting it. Also a linky to said product Paints for you scratch kit they do alsorts of things.
