Wolf 3 ton trolley jack

Now I have lived with it for a few months I can feel I can give a better review.

Wolf 3 ton garage jack, cost me £60 from screwfix, they seem to have sold out of them at the moment.

Its very good. Height it can lift to is great, beyond the highest setting on my axle stands even with the pin above the collar. Its also high enough So I can put wheel ramps under the car.

This is a pic of the jack lifting Y about 2/3's of full height

The onyl problem is its size and weight, it weighs 40kg's roughly, which is quite heavy if as i do have to carry it in and out over steps etc. Heres a pic of it beside a normal 2 ton jack

The release mechanism is not the best, its the twist the handle style but theres little control. Over about 10 degrees its up or down, no real easy way to control it.

Overall a good purchase as its not fallen down on me yet!

thats jacked up at the front jacking point, where the stock jack goes with the slot. Block of wood in the channel between the car and jacks saddle

well having owned this for a while its time for long term verdict.

Not so good.

The jack still works and holds its load. However where the jack handle pivots it has worn oval so a good 1 foot of jack handle movement means no movement from the jack itself.

So more an annoyance, a real annoyance actually.

Still worth the cash I suppose.

All your jacks seem to start heading south...

I need one atm, I would really like something to give that sort of height but 60 sheets is a bit much for me. £20 2 tonne halfords effort it will be then. Need to make savings somewhere!

My dads got a very similar, probably made in the same factory. We only use it to lift light Renault's (heaviest is Espace or Avantime) and it does it well, we have used two of these to lift the 19 off the engine cradle, and it lifts high enough so you can get the complete engine out from underneath. The release mech is not very precise, and also it requires you to get the car up about 5 cm before it can go under the front of the 19 16v (standard height) and the Renault 17 (with front kamei spoiler). Ours has been well worth the cash, but we are looking to get a "race trolley jack" that can go under the 19 and 17 without the wooden blocks

when i used to be a tyre fitter the comapny i worked for was bought out and closed by kwik fit so the day they came to empty our centre me and my mate who was also manager robbed all the jacks, the tracking lazer guages and equipment and some other bits and bobs. gotta be done, the trolley jacks were very good quality and still going strong and i never need to pay for my tracking (that was 5 years ago now lol)

It seems impossible to find a decent Tyre/wheel refurb garage in Edinburgh.
