EuroCarParts R19 Clutch Cable.

Just thought i'd warn you all of my experience of these:

Unbranded clutch cable for R19. Part number: 646745131

Don't buy one. 2 problems. First one is that inner-cable siezes against the outer cable when you bend it around the engine bay. Easily solved by some grease, just a pain in the backside.

Secondly, it's thicker than the OEM cable, so it won't clip into the clips in the bay for it.

Buy a gen part. It'll cost a couple of quid more, but less hassle!

Everything I've ever heard on this forum and anyone I've spoken to says only buy genuine renault clutch cables.

So this seems a fair point!

i agree! when my clutch cable went straight after the cars MOT, nearest place to get a cable was euro car parts and being a saturday renault parts was not open so i got one from ECP just to get the car home, like gamefreaks says, the ECP cable is too thick to go into the clips and was very tight to operate. Swapped it out for a gen renault item as soon as i could

You were a bit luckier than me then!

I did the cable, and I thought it would losen a bit with use maybe, so took it for a quick drive. Of course it didn't. It got stiffer, and then stripped the teeth off the ratchet on the pedal! Was at Leicester Forest East services at the time and had to find something to shim it at the clutch end to get me home!

That is when you realise that service stations sell nothing but junk!!!

In the end, I used a jublee clip to shim it between the clutch arm and the cable and some vaselene to grease it!

Don't get me started!! My wiper came loose in a downpour soon after I got the car and I was on the M5. So I made it as far as the services, and did they have anything useful? Well they could sell me clothes, a shredder, flowers, a garden ornament but did they have even an adjustable wrench? did they f***. Didn't even sell string.

I mean, what would it cost them to stock a cheapo toolkit at the very least? They're more interested in selling you tat.

I keep a few tools in the car for that very reason!
