POS to my delight (R.I.P)
POS to my delight (R.I.P)

Introduction

right ok everyone no's i want a valver wont shut up about it blah blah blah you no the rest, well i was bidding on a chammy in wales that i won by second chance but for reasons (namely blagging the bids up!)

checked the bay today and came across a green valver with a large dent in the passenger side, have seen his car sat outside a hairdressers for a few years now and always like the look of it as it was always in the mintest of conditions.

went on abit of a mission to contact the seller (which i still haven't ) found out it was at a local garage only about a mile away so thanks to Ben (BenLewisMav-in his green valver ) i got up there to take a look,

Car was unlocked when we got there so i set about checking it out, apart from the dent in the wing, there is a few scratches on the bumper, laquer missing from the roof and the rear window rubber trim is missing , checked all round the car and theres was no visable rust that i could see

right some piccys of the beast :-

inside the car was a state uncleaned and just messy, parcel shelf has gone door speaker covers gone there is the usual bad drivers seat, the car has also done over 100k when the ad said only 98!

under the hood came as no surprise as halfway through us looking at the car a man came over to see what we were doing and after a bit of a chat he said how he had only serviced this car himself and how he had worked with Renault for 18yrs and also genral Renault nut (with a mint williams 3), he sid he could print off what work the garage had ever done on this car from the first day of it arriving in the garage, bit his hand off and ended up with eight A4 pages of service history (£4032.1 for the last 50k odd miles and the rest of the RSH for all work before car also had £193 spent on it last month getting it mot ready but seller bought another car before so this one became surplus

so after chatting to the said sound gezzer he got on the phone to the seller and put forward my offer of £350 after abit of umm and arrr's he decided to sell it i went to go get a deposit and came back to take pics and tax was gone! hummm funny how before it had 6months! so i said i dont want it keep it and without much fuss i got the 6months tax aswell (mainly as it was advertised with it) deal was struck deposit paid and now going to pay full tomorrow and collect car

also thanks to Ben we went to scrappies and got

2x ph 2 indicators
1x dizzy
1x green wing (£10)
2x speaker grills

wing i will pay for rest was donated to the cause!

so all in all i reakon a result it cost me £350 to buy and £10 to make look half decent

ok so i got my beast this back to base after a kangroo ride home i set about fixing the problems which were :-

1st noticed that the oil pressure sender wasnt working oil level does
2nd was the obvious missfire under load
3rd the dent!
4th the plip and reciver cover
5th the boot lock
6th no parcel shelf or sterio
7th speaker covers
8th drivers side indecator
9th no water pump relay
10th bottom water pipe of expansion bottle leaking
11th 5th injector unplugged

this is how she looked when i got home

so at home 1st off came the coil wire to the dizzy which was corroded as a mo fo so i cleaned it and all the others on the dizzy, started and it was still there.. next up i thought water in the plugs as there is no sheild under the bonnet why?!? i dont no but there is a red strap and a lot of silicone under the sparkplug cover anyway out they came and a load of water in each of the four holes!! thanks to Ben who sucked it out with straws (big thanks you numpty )

there was at least a inch of water in each hole so after i was taken out a dried and now the car runs like a dream

went to breakers to get a wing and ended up with a plip and reciver and boot look complete with key went to my mates to collect my sterio and parcel shelf with 6x9's

within a matter of seconds of getting home the wing was changed boot lock fixed with a clip and a new rubber (the other clip was inside the boot so a case of laziness i think ) and i fitted a air filter, and this time it will be better than standard as the rubber pipe to the box was ripped in two twice i replaced the pipe and job done in seconds also put reciver and tried the pilp all doors lock result!

only prob now is the drivers side window is well slow and it has a dodgy switch

and i need to take a look at the engine mounts or driveshafts as it doesnt feel nice in first

so after all that i thick or whats cost so far £360 including car and parts im laughing

and mals i have the orignal car mats (well at least i think they are ) there shapped to fit and with renault wrote on them

and some more pics of the beast as it stands now after day 1

wing fitted inc RT badge for those traffic lights

air filter fitted

whole car

mine and bens side by side
